“Na them dey rush us”
This is the trending sentence in Nigeria and interestingly has gotten a biblical reference as well…
Isaiah 4:1…And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
Let’s talk about this as regards relationship and marriage; why would seven ladies rush you as a man?
It’s simple… BECAUSE OF YOUR NAME.
From the scripture above, seven ladies would rush you so as to take away their reproach and have a new name especially when they are of age…
They’re eager to be called Mrs this or Mrs that…
This tells us the importance of a name.
This women could afford their feeding and clothing… All they needed was a good name that won’t bring them reproach.
The question is:
Are you such a man?
Are you one worthy of such a rush and esteem?
Do you have a good reputation?
What is your character saying about you?
If you were a woman, could you rush yourself???
The Bible says clearly in proverbs 22:1 and 2
1 Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.
2 The rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord made them both.
How then can you be a man of good Esteem?
It’s simple, be loving and loyal!
The Bible ascertains this in proverbs 3:3-4 which says…
Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty.
Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart.
Earn a reputation for living well
in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people.
(MSG Version)
Choose to be a man of love and integrity who is also loyal and has just one woman…
No wonder the Bible considers it one of the standard qualifications of being an elder or deacon. (1 Timothy 3:12-13)
Why burden yourself with many wives, girlfriends or concubines?
Let me read to you another version of Isaiah 4:1
That will be the day when seven women
will gang up on one man, saying,
“We’ll take care of ourselves,
get our own food and clothes.
Just give us a child. Make us pregnant
so we’ll have something to live for!”
(MSG Version)
This version is trying to open your eyes to what will happen after you’ve been rushed; Get ready to be a Father!
So when next you feel rushed… Also remember to consider the obligations and responsibility of many unwanted children.
Shalom!
