Are You Hungry For His Glory? Try This
In my little journey of life, I had found out that everybody is on a quest to access God; on a quest to encounter His glory and this is the common factor for all religion (either its traditional, Islam or Christianity). All religion across the world was designed in a bid to access God. Each of them have pattern of worship geared towards a “deity”. Although, their intention is true (to access God) but the way to which they try to access Him is wrong. Only Christianity proffers the right way to access God which is through the Lord Jesus Christ.
What else is the height of Christianity than to be able to access The Most High? What else than to behold the glory, splendor and beauty of His Majesty? This is greatest dream for a believer; to be able to encounter God for real, to experience the full glory of God and to behold His beauty. Yet majority of believers try to access Him not because he really matters to them but to meet their needs. But I tell you this is a wrong motive behind worship.
Have you ever wondered about the themes and purposes of our church gatherings? It’s all needs oriented. Ask yourself why do you go to church? Why do you attend the prayer meetings? Is it for you to see God’s glory or for your needs to be met? No wonder we cry for an encounter but we had no encounter. We longed for His presence yet it seems impossible to achieve. Our preachers preached about His presence. They fed our hunger for Him; we try to pursue Him in our gatherings. We did vigils, 3 days prayer program yet no result, at most we had some manifestation of the Spirit to meet our needs but there is still a vacuum to be filled.
Express Way to Encounter His Glory
But I have found a way to experience the beauty of His glory. A way to encounter the King of Glory; a way to access the Most High and that’s TRUE WORSHIP.
As much as prayer is powerful and effective, worship is much better because even in our prayers all we do is to request to meet our needs.
The book of John 4:23 recorded that “But the hour cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: FOR THE FATHER SEEKETH SUCH TO WORSHIP HIM.”
In this one verse is the secret that gives access to God without hindrance. When we are busy striving to seek God by all means, the scripture above recorded that worshippers will have access to Him. Why? Because in the mid of us seeking Him, God Himself is seeking for worshippers.
There is a realm the fasting giant can’t reach, there is a realm the praying giant can’t reach and that’s the inner court of God. This is the realm reserved for worshippers.
Why?
- Because your fasting doesn’t move God likewise your prayer, your worship is only tool you have in your possess to attract Him.
- Maybe you don’t know that your fasting is about you (consecration), your prayer is about you (give you access to communicate with God) but your worship is about God (the means to express our reverence and adoration).
- The best your fasting and prayer can attract is an angel with your answered prayer from God but your worship attracts God Himself. When you pray God sends angel to deliver the answer to you but when you worship, God Himself will come and receive what belongs to Him. He won’t send an angel.
Therefore, when you fast and pray, you are seeking God but when you live in worship, God is the one that will seek you. So which one is better – for you to seek Him and for God to seek you? Which one is easier, for you to seek Him or for God to seek you?
It’s a pity that when we say we have a personal retreat or quiet time, we quickly rush through the praise and thanksgiving 15minuites maximum. Maybe that is the reason we haven’t encounter His glory as we desire. Even the bible affirmed it that we are to enter is gate with thanksgiving in our heart and the court with praise.
What do you think our fathers in faith do pray about for 12 hours or 5 hours (everyday)? Majority of their prayer tine is developed to deep worship – thanksgiving and praise (that’s the secret of long hour prayer).
As much as we recommend prayer and fasting without which you can’t experience total victory in this world. Yet I believed worshippers have the key to access God more. Learn to be a worshipper.

What’s About Worship?
Ok, let get this right worship is not the slow-soul-lifting song that the choir sings, its way far beyond this. Worship is not the amount you place in the offering basket. Worship is not just volunteering in church services. Yes, these may be expressions of worship, but they do not define what true worship really is. Worship as defined by Webster’s dictionary IS TO HONOR WITH EXTRAVAGANT LOVE AND EXTREME SUBMISSION.
True worship, in other words, is defined by the priority we place on ‘who’ God is in our lives and ‘where’ God is on our list of priorities. What is the most important thing in your life right now? To some is their parent, to some is their spouse, to some is their career, to some is their family and to some is pursing money. If God doesn’t occupy the number one spot in your life, no matter how you sing worship songs, you are not yet a worshipper.
True worship is a matter of the heart expressed through a lifestyle that pleases God through holiness. Thus, if your lifestyle does not express the beauty of holiness through an extravagant love for God, and you do not live in extreme submission to God, then I invite you to make worship a non-negotiable priority in your life. How much of your devotion is unto God? How much do you really Love God? You claim you love Him yet you can’t sit down and study His word. You claim you are in love with Him yet little instructions from the bible is hard for you to obey. You claim is the number one priority in your life yet you can go days without saying hello to Him in the place of prayer. Ooh! Did I forget to say that your lifestyle is indifferent to an unbeliever yet you claim you belong to Christ. You really need to retrace your steps.
Why Do We Worship God?
We worship God because he is God. Period. Our extravagant love and extreme submission to the Holy One flows out of the reality that God loved us first. It is highly appropriate to thank God for all the things he has done for us (Personally, I devoted every Monday for thanksgiving and praise, no matter the hours of prayer I have I tried as much as possible not to ask anything but to appreciate Him, reverence and adore Him. During my normal prayer time I can use 2 hours for thanksgiving and praise. And I have found out that most encounters had been during this period).
However, true worship is shallow if it is solely an acknowledgement of God’s blessings over our life. Psalm 96:5-6 says, “For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.”
In other words, our worship must be toward the one who is worthy simply because of his identity as the Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent One, and not just because God is wealthy and able to meet our needs and answer our prayers. We must focus our practice of worship on the worthiness of God and not his wealthiness.
Think about this: Would you continue to worship God if, from this day forward, God’s miraculous signs and wonders were not so profoundly evident in your life? Would God still be worthy of your worship? Or is your worship completely dependent upon the abundance of God’s blessings upon your life? Do you only worship God for what he can do for you?
